The Best of Both Worlds: Work-Life Balance at Minster Bank

Balancing a meaningful career with the demands of family life can be challenging, but at Minster Bank, it’s a goal that’s supported every step of the way. For Commercial Loan Processor Rachael Goettemoeller and Relationship Associate Janelle Homan, that culture of flexibility and understanding has empowered them to design schedules that meet both their professional and personal needs.

For Rachael, the decision to shift her schedule was guided by her children and the demands of life on the farm. Being home a couple days a week allows her to keep up with family life, lend a hand with farming tasks, and still enjoy the satisfaction she gets from her role helping customers with their loans. She says that work is a break from the chaos of home – no little hands tugging at her or voices calling “Mom!” every few minutes – but the balance allows her to thrive in both worlds.

Janelle’s path to part-time work began after the birth of her first child. Over the years, as her family grew, the flexibility of her schedule became even more important. “I would like to say it helps me stay on top of all my responsibilities, however, with four kids 8 and under, my home life always feels chaotic,” she joked. “At the same time, I don’t know how I would make it all work if I had to work more hours.” Spending more time at home not only gives her kids the attention they need, but also helps her show up to work refreshed and ready to give her best on the days she’s there.

Both women credit Minster Bank’s unwavering support for making this balance possible. Rachael recalls a time when her son faced recurring hospital visits for respiratory issues. “During that time if I needed to, I could drop whatever I was doing and go straight from work. Minster Bank was very understanding and caring. My boss and fellow employees helped pick up my work while I was gone and they always asked how my son was doing.”

Whether it’s celebrating milestones like baby showers and weddings or offering support during times of illness or loss, Minster Bank stands by its employees through it all. For Rachael and Janelle, it’s a clear sign they’re part of a workplace that values not only their contributions but also who they are, giving them the opportunity to truly enjoy the best of both worlds.
