The Power of Community Support: HTC

When a local mom began preparing for her daughter’s arrival back in 2001, she was overwhelmed – not just with joy, but with generosity. Friends and family showered her with more baby items than she could possibly use. Instead of letting them sit unused, she followed her heart and reached out to local agencies to find families in need. That small, compassionate gesture sparked something much bigger: Hannah’s Treasure Chest (now just HTC), a nonprofit that has been helping new mothers in the Dayton area for decades.

From the beginning, HTC’s mission has been centered on meeting the basic needs of children. But as the organization has grown, so has the scope of its impact. Today, HTC partners with over 75 local agencies to provide thoughtfully curated care packages filled with everything from diapers and clothing to safety equipment, books, and hygiene kits. A dedicated team of volunteers helps assemble these bundles with care, ensuring each one meets the specific needs of the child receiving it.

That philosophy has shaped every step of HTC’s journey. One particularly powerful story, shared by a local mother, speaks to just how critical this support can be. In a moment of desperation, she had considered stealing shoes for her children – until an HTC care package arrived, offering not just what she needed, but a reminder that she wasn’t alone. She, along with thousands of other young families in need, have felt the impact of HTC’s mission.

HTC’s recent expansion into a larger facility has allowed the organization to do even more. That move was made possible, in large part, thanks to the support of Minster Bank.

“The personalized service and community-focused approach at Minster Bank made them the ideal partner during this major transition,” expressed Sherri Nutter, Marketing Manager at HTC. “Their financial tools and expertise allowed us to confidently take this next step in our mission.”

HTC may have started with a single family’s generosity, but today it stands as a testament to what’s possible when a community comes together to care for its own.
