Supporting Small Businesses This Holiday Season
When we talk about the backbone of our economy, we may think of large corporations and industries. But let’s not forget the heart and soul of our towns and cities: our small businesses. They provide jobs, give our communities character, and offer unique products and services that we might not find anywhere else. And guess what? There’s a day dedicated just to them: Small Business Saturday.
What is Small Business Saturday?
Small Business Saturday is an annual event held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, dedicated to supporting small and local businesses across the country. Established in 2010, it serves as a counterbalance to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which primarily benefit large retailers and e-commerce giants. On this day, consumers are encouraged to shop at small businesses, bringing vital revenue and attention to the entrepreneurs and small-business owners who bolster our local economies and communities.
Check out a few of our team’s favorites:
“Topsy Turvy Toys in New Bremen has excellent customer service. The owner, Kathy Hall, is always personable and will do her best to help find the perfect gift. She has unique options and will go above and beyond to help anyone who walks into her store. She is amazing!”
Topsy Turvy Toys also has locations in Tipp City and Greenville.
“The service and care of Schwieterman Pharmacies is top notch! Renae Gaerke and her staff go the extra mile to take care of their customers. I can always trust the advice given by Renae.”
Schwieterman Pharmacies has locations in Coldwater, Wapakoneta New Bremen, and Minster.
“The Pines in Quincy are always offering a special when we come in. The owner and staff are always so friendly. K&J’s Ice Cream offer hand-dipped and soft serve ice cream always served with a smile! PJ’s Stop 47 is always a nice place to stop and eat, listen to music, and play a game of pool.”

“Kevin at AWA Marketing & Gold is a wealth of knowledge & is always happy to help answer any questions regarding gold, silver, & the exchange of coins. At Walter & Sons, the staff is friendly & always quick to greet & help customers as soon as they walk in. They also have a great selection!
