Bank Employees Donate to Hand-Up Village

(Minster, OH – July 23, 2024) – During the month of June, the employees of Minster Bank raised funds in support of Hand-Up Village through the “Casual for a Cause” program, demonstrating their commitment to supporting those in need within our community.

The Casual for a Cause movement, a hallmark of Minster Bank’s corporate culture, allows employees to dress informally in exchange for voluntary contributions toward charitable causes. The June non-profit was recommended by Minster Bank’s Julie Uhlenhake. “People often think of homelessness as just a ‘big city problem’, but it isn’t,” she explained. “It’s in our hometowns too, and it was touching to see someone notice and take on the responsibility to help.”

The founder, Pastor Rick Brosher saw an unmet need in the homeless population of Mercer County. After a period of allowing people to pitch tents or park cars for a night on Abounding Grace Ministries’ property, Pastor Rick felt called to do more. In 2015, Hand-Up Village built its first cabin. It has since opened twelve cabins to serve the homeless members of the Mercer County community.

Hand-Up Village’s goal is not just to provide housing for the homeless. By fostering community and fellowship, and constructing a plan for their residents to find employment and permanent housing, the Village provides so much more than just a cabin to sleep in. They offer hope.

Participating in Casual for a Cause isn’t merely about dressing down; it’s about uplifting the community, fostering a culture of empathy, and making a tangible difference in the lives of others. This donation reaffirms Minster Bank’s dedication to supporting local initiatives and embracing its role as a responsible corporate citizen.
